ŌHOPE LOCAL WILD FOOD CHALLENGE
31 October 2020
The Whakatāne District is brimming with wild food and natural abundance, making it the perfect place to host an event to celebrate this and to build awareness of our environment’s precious natural resources.
Ōhope's Local Wild Food Challenge is part of a worldwide event series that has grown from small beginnings on the shores of Eastbourne, New Zealand.
The challenge is to get outside and hunt, gather, forage, grow or fish for local wild food and create a unique dish or beverage to enter for judging on the day. Anyone from amateur foodies to chefs can get involved.
Not a cook, but keen to join us for a day of entertainment, food demonstrations, delicious food and mellow vibes?
The Ōhope Local Wild Food Challenge is set amongst a festival that celebrates local food, sustainability, and the environment. We have an action-packed programme including live demonstrations with food tastings, an interactive mystery box challenge, live bands, a craft beer garden, food stalls and more!
We also need volunteers to help make the event a success!
If you'd like to be part of the incredible event crew, please contact us now.
